Situated on the eastern coast of Cyprus in the Eastern Mediterranean, Famagusta (Gazimagusa in Turkish) is recognized as the historical capital of Northern Cyprus.

Famagusta is amazing city founded in the 11th century BC and is one of the striking examples of medieval architecture in the world.

This city is a paradise for lovers of history. In every corner of the ancient city of monuments found and St. Nicholas Cathedral (Lala Mustafa Pasha Mosque), Othello's Tower, the Roman city of Salamis (includes an amphitheater, Roman baths, a gimnasium and royal tombs), St. Barnabas Monastery or the walls of Famagusta. Some of the monuments here are a mystery because there is no written record about them in history.

Famagusta is one of the most important historical ports in the Mediterranean. By 1300 i.Hr Famagusta town was the main market of the eastern Mediterranean and home to many civilizations, the most notable being the Romanian.

Famagusta today is a city results from a harmonious combination of ancient and the modern world. In the old center of town there are cafes, restaurants and shopping areas. Coastlines of Famagusta have beautiful beaches and holiday facilities for everyone.
